🆚  verybusy vs. Pikd.io: What’s the Difference?

verybusy defined the Retouching Ops category. It is the only software purpose-built for retouching review and approval at scale. It drives teams working on high-volume commercial stills to signoff through multi-round revisions and asynchronous feedback from multiple stakeholders.

Pikd.io is a gallery-centric client proofing and delivery platform built for photographers and visual teams. It works by organizing shoots into shareable galleries where clients make selections that can be brought back into the creator’s editing workflow. It fits photographers and studio teams that want a client-friendly selection process tied to their production flow.

✅ The verybusy Advantage

These are tools for multi-round retouching workflows you won’t find together in a client proofing gallery. See the chart below for the full comparison.

  • Version control built in → batch upload, revisions auto-stack even if filenames or format change, eliminating the need for manual stacking

  • Round-threaded persistent feedback in assets → context is maintained across revisions to avoid back and forth

  • On-the-fly multi-label asset tagging with filtering → UI adapts to ad hoc needs in your workflow on demand; visible on thumbnail and upon entering an asset

  • Store custom label sets in your workspace for reuse on other projects → repeatable workflows; make parallel approval paths visible on a single image and filter for web, print, or market readiness

  • Built-in A/B comparison, side-by-side view, and 10× zoom & pan → precise visual QA without having to manually stack revisions

  • Click on comments to zoom in on markups → find small markups fast

  • Attach large files directly to comments → context-rich instructions and streamlined handoff of things like vector files

  • Batch commenting → leave one comment across many images in a single action

  • Filter for unresolved comments → see what needs attention

  • Adjustable notifications & project mute option → control over what calls your attention

  • PSDs and layered TIFFs render a composite preview → receive marked up layered comps from art directors and/or hand off the working file as needed

Free collaborators can upload without creating an account → external retouchers can deliver rounds without requiring a seat or creating an account

🎯 Who Chooses Which Platform and Why

verybusy

  • Agencies and brands where producers or creative ops leads coordinate asynchronous reviews between retouch teams and art directors. Outcome: efficient review cycles, faster signoff, and lower cognitive load because feedback can land across many images at once, revisions auto-stack, and direction persists across rounds, reducing conflicting notes and rework.

  • Freelance retouchers who want a professional platform for sharing revisions and collecting feedback, clearer direction that carries across rounds, and fewer resets that burn unpaid time. Outcome: a client-ready, stills-first review space that feels professional and is easy for clients to use, so you look organized and approvals move faster. You keep more billable hours because versioning is automatic across rounds even when filenames or formats change, and filters focus you on unresolved notes.

  • Photographers collaborating with retouchers before client delivery who want detailed markups, references attached to comments, and a simple link-based review to hand off work. Outcome: clear direction that carries forward from round to round across the whole set, which cuts re-edits after delivery and lets you move to the next job sooner.

Pikd.io

  • Photographers and videographers sending selects and finals via branded, permissioned galleries. Outcome: faster picks and fewer email chains.

  • Teams that want branded, link-based galleries with simple, permissioned downloads. Outcome: professional experience with minimal setup.

🙋 FAQ

Can verybusy replace our project management system?
No. verybusy is focused on review and approval workflows. It pairs well with tools like Monday, Asana, and Wrike for broader project and resource management.

Does verybusy replace our DAM or asset library?
No. verybusy helps teams get assets finalized and approved. It’s not a long-term storage solution or campaign management system. Many teams export finals from verybusy into their DAM once approved.

What if we’re already using Workfront or another project management platform?
verybusy isn’t a replacement for project scheduling or asset routing. Instead, it fits into your stack as the tool that keeps feedback organized and image rounds moving without adding extra clicks or confusion.

Teams often use verybusy for still image approvals while continuing to use Workfront or Creative Force for broader task and resourcing workflows.

What if we already use Frame.io or Wipster?
Those are tooled for video workflows. verybusy is different: it’s made for fast, accurate retouching feedback. When you’re three rounds deep on 300 assets, stills-first features like version control are critical.

Is verybusy mobile-friendly?

Yes, but desktop is recommended. For detailed feedback on high-res images, the best experience is on a larger screen.

How secure is verybusy?

verybusy is hosted on AWS and includes:

  • SSO (Google/Microsoft)

  • Two-factor authentication

  • Email verification

  • Encrypted file handling

  • Role-based permissions

  • Optional Enterprise SCIM, SLA, and audit support

Can I white-label the platform?

Not yet. Full white-labeling is on our roadmap. For now, you can still create a clean, professional experience by customizing project names and sharing review links that don’t require collaborators to create an account.
